We are the darling killers

The Darling Killers began as a collection of writers who sometimes wanted to interact with other human beings about writing. It turns out that felt kind of cool and we decided it would be nice to do even more things with even more writers – or any other human beings interested in literary stuff. So now we try to build and promote literary events here in Santa Fe, New Mexico, because this place is literary as hell and while sitting alone in a room of one’s own reading awesome books and scribbling in our moleskins is still our favorite thing to do, sometimes we like to commune with other people in real life (but not too often, so relax).

Who said it best ?

Stephen King

Kill your darlings, kill your darlings, even when it breaks your egocentric little scribbler’s heart, kill your darlings.

Sir Arthur Quiller-Coach

Whenever you feel an impulse to perpetrate a piece of exceptionally fine writing, obey it—whole-heartedly—and delete it before sending your manuscript to press. Murder your darlings.

William Faulkner

In writing, you must kill all your darlings.

We are cups, quietly and constantly being filled. The trick is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.

— Ray Bradbury
